The Atlantis is one of the few power wheelchairs on the market rated for riders up to 600 lbs. Rear-wheel drive delivers strong hill-climbing at 10° gradient. Range is up to 32 miles on a single charge. The Dynamic LiNX controller provides Bluetooth programming and diagnostics for easy adjustments without tools.

Why 600 lb Capacity Matters

Most power wheelchairs top out at 300 to 450 lbs. If you weigh more than that, your options shrink fast. Many families spend weeks searching only to find chairs that are technically rated for 500 lbs but built on the same frame as a 300 lb model with a few reinforced bolts.

The Atlantis is different. It's designed from the frame up for bariatric users up to 600 lbs. Four seat posts instead of the standard two provide structural stability. The extra-wide 24.5" seat and 21.25" high backrest are proportioned for larger bodies — not just a wider version of a standard seat. Pneumatic tires on all drive wheels handle the additional weight without the harsh ride of solid tires.

For the 600 lb user, this chair isn't a luxury — it's mobility. It's the ability to leave the house, move through your home independently, and live your day without being confined to a bed or a single room.

Who is this For?

This chair is built for you if:

  • You weigh between 400 and 600 lbs and need a power wheelchair rated for your weight
  • You've searched for a high-capacity chair and found that most max out at 400-450 lbs
  • You need a durable, reliable chair for daily indoor and outdoor use on smooth to moderate surfaces
  • You want pneumatic tires for a more comfortable ride at higher body weights
  • You want everything included — batteries, charger, no separate purchases required

This may not be the right fit if:

  • You weigh under 400 lbs and want a seat lift feature (see our Vision Super with Lift — 400 lb capacity with powered seat elevator)
  • You need a folding or portable power chair for travel (see our Feather Power Chair at 33 lbs)
  • You primarily need a mobility scooter for outdoor/all-terrain use (see our Silverado Extreme — 450 lb capacity, 55-mile range)
  • You need a tight indoor turning radius — the Atlantis has a 31.5" turning radius which needs wider hallways than a mid-wheel drive chair

FAQ

Does this chair come with batteries? Yes. Two 75Ah Group 24 AGM batteries ship installed. The 6A off-board charger is also included.

Is 600 lbs the actual weight limit? Yes. The Atlantis is rated at 600 lbs by Merits Health Products. This is the manufacturer's tested and published weight capacity, not an estimated or unofficial number.

What's the difference between the 24" and 26" seat? The 24" seat is standard. The 26" seat provides an additional 2 inches of width for riders who need more room. Both are the same price. If you're unsure, call us — we'll help you figure out which width is right.

Can I use this chair outdoors? Yes. The pneumatic tires and 2.75" ground clearance handle sidewalks, driveways, and moderate outdoor surfaces well. It climbs 10° grades. It's not an all-terrain scooter, but it handles everyday outdoor use.

How far does it go on one charge? Up to 32 miles under optimal conditions. Real-world range depends on rider weight, terrain, speed, and temperature.

How tight can it turn? 31.5" turning radius. This is wider than a mid-wheel drive chair (our Vision Super turns in 21"), so you'll need wider hallways and doorways. Standard 36" doorways work, but tight spaces may require extra maneuvering.

Will it fit through my doorways? The chair is 32" wide overall. Standard residential doorways are 32" to 36" wide. It will fit through most doorways, but measure yours before ordering. If your doors are exactly 32", it will be a tight fit.

How much does the chair weigh? 304 lbs total. The heaviest single piece is 167 lbs. We strongly recommend white glove delivery ($499) to get this inside your home.

What colors are available? Candy Apple Red or Metallic Blue. Let us know your preference when ordering.

Does it recline? The captain's seat has a semi-reclining backrest. Armrests are flip-up, height-adjustable, and detachable.
