RC1000 Bariatric Hospital Bed System -- Bed, Mattress, Side Rails & Foot Rails Included | 1000 lb Capacity
Complete bariatric bed system rated to 1000 lbs. Five-function electric positioning, expandable width to 54 inches, pressure-relief mattress, head and foot rails all included. Nothing else to buy.
The RC1000 is a complete bariatric hospital bed system rated for patients up to 1000 lbs. This is not a standard bed with a higher weight sticker -- it is engineered from the frame up for bariatric care, with a reinforced steel frame, expandable bed deck, and five-function electric positioning including Trendelenburg and cardiac chair.
The bed expands from 39 inches to 54 inches wide using a simple pull-pin system -- no tools required. When you need to move it through a doorway, the frame narrows to fit through openings as narrow as 40 inches. The split-frame design means it can be delivered and assembled in tight spaces.
This package includes the bed frame with composite bed ends, the BariMatt 1000 expandable pressure-relief mattress (rated to 1000 lbs), head-end rail system, and half-length foot-end safety rails. The hand pendant, IV pole, and Foley bag holder are also included with the bed.
One purchase. Everything your loved one needs.

Why this Bed Exists
Finding a hospital bed rated for 1000 lbs is one of the most frustrating searches a family can face. Most beds top out at 450 or 600 lbs. The few bariatric options available are often sold as bare frames with no mattress, requiring you to separately source a bariatric mattress that fits, figure out rails, and hope everything arrives together.
This package eliminates that. The bed, the mattress, and the rails are all designed to work together. The mattress expands with the bed. The rails are rated for the frame. Everything ships from one manufacturer. You are not piecing together components from three different companies and hoping for the best.
The expandable width matters more than most people realize. A 39-inch-wide bed fits through a standard doorway. A 54-inch-wide bed gives your loved one room to sleep comfortably. The pull-pin system means you can do both -- narrow the bed to move it, widen it once it is in the room. One bed handles delivery day and every day after.
For caregivers, the five-function positioning means less physical strain. Trendelenburg tilts the entire bed to help with circulation and medical procedures. Cardiac chair raises the head and lowers the foot to simulate sitting in a chair. Hi-low adjusts the bed height from 17 to 30 inches so you are not bending over to provide care.
This is the bed that handles whatever comes next.

Who is this for?
This bed is right for you if:
- Your loved one weighs between 450 and 1000 lbs and needs a hospital bed
- You need a bed that expands to accommodate a larger body comfortably
- You want everything included -- bed, mattress, rails -- in one purchase
- You need the bed to fit through standard doorways during delivery
- You need advanced positioning (Trendelenburg, cardiac chair) for medical care
- You want a mattress specifically rated and designed for bariatric patients
This may not be the right fit if:
- The patient weighs under 450 lbs (see our WeCare Complete Home Hospital Bed System at a lower price-- smaller, lighter, designed for home bedrooms)
- You need an ultra-low bed height below 17 inches for fall prevention (the WeCare goes to 8 inches)
- You need a low air loss mattress for active wound treatment (call us -- we can upgrade the mattress to the Arise 1000 LAL system)
- You need the bed wider than 54 inches
DELIVERY INFORMATION
This is a heavy, multi-component delivery. The bed frame alone weighs approximately 570 lbs and ships in split-frame halves. The mattress ships separately.
White Glove Delivery strongly recommended -- we coordinate professional delivery, in-home assembly, mattress placement, and rail installation. Call us for white glove pricing on this product -- standard $499 may not apply due to the weight and complexity of bariatric bed setup.
Standard delivery via freight carrier. You will need at least two strong people and clear pathways to move components into the room. The split-frame design allows each half to fit through standard doorways.
Estimated delivery: Ships from Joerns Healthcare. Delivery timeframe confirmed when you place your order.
Note: Foot-end rails are included in this package and ordered with the bed. They cannot be added after the bed is manufactured.
FAQ SECTION
What exactly is included? The RC1000 bed frame with composite bed ends, hand pendant, IV pole, and Foley bag holder. The BariMatt 1000 expandable foam mattress. Head-end rail system. Half-length foot-end safety rails. Everything needed for a complete bariatric bed setup.
How wide does the bed go? From 39 inches to 54 inches using the pull-pin system. No tools needed. The mattress expands with the bed.
Will it fit through my doorway? The frame narrows to 40 inches for transport. Standard residential doorways are 32-36 inches, which is too narrow at full width. However, the split-frame design allows each half to be carried through separately and assembled in the room. Confirm your doorway measurements with us before ordering.
How much does the bed weigh? The bed frame weighs approximately 570 lbs. The mattress adds additional weight. This is a heavy-duty product. We strongly recommend professional delivery and setup.
What are the five functions? Trendelenburg (head down, feet up), reverse Trendelenburg (head up, feet down), cardiac chair (head up, knees bent to simulate sitting), hi-low (raises and lowers the entire bed), and Fowler positioning (head angle adjustment). All controlled via the hand pendant.
Does it have Trendelenburg? Yes. Full Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg are included in the five-function control. This is a significant upgrade over the WeCare and most standard hospital beds, which do not offer Trendelenburg.
What is the mattress made of? The BariMatt 1000 is an expandable foam mattress with a viscoelastic (memory foam) topper. It expands from 36 to 48 inches wide to match the bed frame width. It is rated for 1000 lbs and includes a fire barrier.
Can the bed be extended for taller patients? Yes. A 12-inch length extension is available ($399) that extends the bed deck from 84 to 96 inches. Mention this when you call us if the patient is over 6 foot 2.
What is the warranty? Bed frame: 5-year warranty on steel structural components, 1-year warranty on mechanical and electrical components, lifetime warranty on welds, 90 days on wear parts (batteries). Contact us for mattress warranty details.
Can I get just the bed without the mattress? No. This is a complete system package. We do not sell the bed frame separately because a bariatric patient without a properly rated mattress is at serious risk for pressure injuries. The BariMatt 1000 is designed to work with this bed and is rated for the same 1000 lb capacity.
